Should You Buy a Bed Frame and Mattress Together or Separately?

Should You Buy a Bed Frame and Mattress Together or Separately?

Written by the Valtiva Team

Valtiva Revel bed frame, available with or without a bundled mattress add-on at checkout

We offer both options, so we've got no reason to steer you one way — here's an honest breakdown, including a genuinely useful pricing detail specific to how our own system works.

The Case for Buying Together

The main advantage is guaranteed compatibility — no guesswork about whether a mattress will genuinely suit the base, and no risk of a mismatch causing sagging, squeaking, or uneven support. It's also simpler: one order, one delivery to coordinate.

The Case for Buying Separately

Buying separately gives you real freedom — you're not limited to whatever mattress options are bundled with a particular frame, and if you already own a mattress you're happy with, there's no reason to replace it just because you're getting a new frame. Mattresses and frames often wear out at different rates; buying separately means you're not tied to replacing both at once.

A Genuinely Useful Detail Specific to Our Range

Here's something worth knowing if you're ordering from us specifically: our bundled Mattress add-on (selectable at checkout alongside your bed frame) is priced from £320 (Single) to £540 (Super King). We also sell several mattresses as standalone products — and two of them, our Luxury 1000 Pocket Mattress (£210–£300) and Luxury Memory Ortho Mattress (£180–£250), are actually priced lower than the equivalent bundled add-on size. If budget is a genuine priority, it's worth comparing our standalone mattress range against the bundled option before assuming bundling is automatically cheaper — it isn't always, at least not with us.

A Practical Way to Decide

  • Buy together if you want guaranteed compatibility and the simplicity of one order.
  • Buy separately if you already own a mattress you're happy with, or want to compare our standalone mattress pricing against the bundled option.

Explore Both Options

Add a mattress directly on any bed frame's product page, or browse our standalone mattress range and full bed collections separately — see our pricing guide for a full overview.
